Emily C. Pappas
Of Counsel
Emily is an experienced workers’ compensation attorney in our North Carolina office. Her practice is focused on defending employers and insurance carriers before the North Carolina Industrial Commission. Emily works closely with her clients to guide them through the workers’ compensation process and develop strategies that align with their business goals. Emily thrives in complex cases with lots of moving parts and unique legal issues. Although Emily represents defendants in her practice, she finds that the best results (be it settlement, a favorable judicial decision, or the smooth and tactful handling of a difficult situation) are achieved when she approaches her cases with an open mind and compassion.
Emily served as the President of the Student Bar Association in law school, competed on and served as captain of her law school’s moot court team, and graduated in the top 10% of her class. Upon graduation, she received the Student Bar Association Service Award and the National Association of Women Lawyers Award. Emily also received several awards for legal writing in law school.
Emily grew up in the historic downtown area of Apex, NC, and she moved back to downtown Apex after attending college and law school in nearby Raleigh. She is a very present member of her local community and loves attending town events and festivals. She also remains very involved with her alma mater, Meredith College. Having attended an all-women’s college, Emily is passionate about female leadership and representation, and she strives to serve as a mentor, role model, and resource for young women joining the legal profession.
When she is not practicing law, Emily can typically be found working outside in her yard. She is also an artist, a quilter, and an avid reader.
