James J. Bouchard, III

Of Counsel

Jim focuses his practice on defending employers and insurance carriers before the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission. He has significant experience both before the Commission as well as in state court. Jim has also represented clients through the appeals process all the way to the Virginia Supreme Court.

Jim received his Juris Doctorate from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. During law school, Jim worked to defend government agencies through an internship with the Indiana Attorney General’s Government Division; and through his subsequent international legal internship in Manila, the Philippines, Jim fought to defend the human rights of underrepresented and disaffected third-world country citizens such as the urban and rural poor, women in third world countries, and vulnerable third-world laborers.

Prior to practicing law, Jim sought to give back to his community by serving at-risk, adolescent boys placed in county run residential care. Through this role, Jim first experienced advocacy through his role advising judges, social workers, legal guardians, teachers, and law enforcement agencies with regards to the various residents’ personal history, behavioral spectrum, and educational and skill-building strengths and obstacles for assisting the at-risk institutionalized youth.
