Rachel N. Sowder

Associate Attorney

Rachel is an Associate in our Richmond Office.  Her practice is focused on civil litigation and representing employers and carriers in defense of workers’ compensation claims in Virginia.  Prior to entering private practice, Rachel completed an internship with the Federal Labor Relations Authority.

Rachel received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Economics, and History, graduating at the top of her class, with honors, from Emory & Henry College.  A dedicated student-athlete, Rachel was a four-year member of the varsity softball team.

Rachel then earned her law degree from William & Mary Law School.  During law school, Rachel was actively involved with the Lewis B. Puller, Jr. Veterans Benefits Clinic.  She was awarded the Bozman Award in recognition of her outstanding character, leadership, and service to the Clinic.  Rachel was a three-year member of William & Mary’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Competition Team and competed in arbitration and negotiation competitions across the United States.  Rachel also served as senior staff on William & Mary’s Journal of Race, Gender, and Social Justice, editing and publishing articles addressing social injustice.
